AUSTRALIA'S FIRST UNDERWATER ROOMS

-

Opened on 1 December, Reefsuites are located on the Reefworld pontoon on Hardy Reef in Queensland, where you can sleep among the fish. The newly developed Reefworld pontoon project is a collaboration between Cruise Whitsundays and the Queensland Government. Reefsuites offer two premium underwater hotel suites with adjoining ensuites.

The hotel rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views beneath the water. During the evening, guests can turn on a light, further illuminating their outer surroundings of the heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef. Development began in 2017 with the pontoon being meticulously constructed after damage sustained in 2017’s Cyclone Debbie. The Reefworld pontoon will also host day-trippers and on-deck Reefsleep guests. During the $10 million redevelopment, the project team ensured the Reef was protected, including the replanting of 4,000 pieces of coral from old moorings onto existing reef walls to rejuvenate Hardy Reef. Bookings are now open and each Reefsuite can accommodate two people. Pricing for the all-inclusive experience starts from $799 per person.
