Stay with a village family

For a different style of travel, Finnish company Duara Travels offers sustainable accommodation and experiences where guests can enjoy village stays of three to six days, getting off-the-beaten-path in locations with local families who provide all meals. Guests are able to partake in daily life and feel part of the family, helping with farming and cooking activities, sharing in village celebrations and seeing the local sights. Duara Travels was founded in 2015 and is now working with 28 villages throughout nine countries including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Tanzania. The host and host community receive 60 per cent of the payment.
