Sofitel Expands Singapore Portfolio

Virgin Australia Voyeur - - HOTELS -

The new Sofitel Singapore City Centre is aptly named: its Wallich Street site is just minutes from the Downtown Core and the entire island is in easy reach (there’s an MRT station underneath the hotel). In a hat-tip to Nathaniel Wallich, who founded the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the 223-room hotel is flora themed, which is apparent on entry to the flower-stuffed lobby. Flowers and tropical greenery surround the hotel’s 30-metre outdoor infinity pool and adjacent whirlpool, and botanical artwork adorns the walls. There’s a sense of whimsy in the guestrooms: you will find a colouring book and pencils on an easel while you can order drinks and snacks from Sophie, a robot who will deliver to your door. Business travellers are well catered for, too, with the usual in-room tech (including universal charging sockets), Nespresso machines and deep soaking tubs. The ‘Handy Phone’, a mobile with free data and international calls you can take around town, is handy indeed. Singapore dining options are nearly endless, but the hotel’s French/Chinese restaurant, Racines, is competitive. If you stay in a Club room you can also access Club Millesime, with free breakfast and pre-dinner drinks with canapés. www.sofitelsingaporecitycentre.com.
