The Pressure Drop, on local radio station CJLO, is the definitive source for Montreal’s music scene, with interviews, live performances and exclusive listens to the city’s hottest up-and-coming bands. Tune in at www.cjlo.com/shows/the-pressure-drop. The late Leonard Cohen, who grew up in Montreal’s Westmount neighbourhood in the 1930s and ’40s, was better known as a songwriter (among his hits was the modern-day hymn Hallelujah, covered by Jeff Buckley on his album Grace), but he wrote a book about the city, too. The Favourite Game is a semi-autobiographical novel from 1963 that documents his coming of age in beautiful poetry and prose, a perfect introduction to the city at a transformative point in history.
