LYNGGAARD’S GUIDE TO PARIS

Virgin Australia Voyeur - - BUSINESS ON THE ROAD -

STAY

My favourite hotel is Hôtel Costes ( 239–241 Rue Saint-Honoré; www. hotelcostes.com), just around the corner from the flagship store. I like the bohemian feel, the velvet and the chandeliers, and the fascinating appearances of the guests, mixed with amazing food and fabulous drinks. I have had some good business meetings in here — the atmosphere always adds an extra dimension.

EAT

The last time I visited Paris, I went to Loulou ( 107 Rue de Rivioli; www. loulou-paris.com), located in the beautiful buildings around Louvre Museum. The food is Italian, but you are still very much part of the Parisian kitchen. It’s a fantastic location to enjoy the view of the Tuileries Garden. To me, a business dinner is just as much about building relations as talking business and Loulou is a perfect setting.

DRINK

For a business meeting — or even a drink — the best place for me is actually our own shop, Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen ( 4 Rue du 29 Juillet; www. olelynggaard.com). The shop itself is elegantly cosy, and since our jewellery collection is always the reason for meeting, it’s convenient to have all the collections available.

SHOP

Our store is located in my favourite shopping district, around Place Vendôme and Rue Saint-Honoré. Walking around this area always inspires me. Seeing small concept shops and huge flagship stores sitting side by side makes it an unusual mix of experiences.

VISIT

Renting a scooter and driving around in the crazy traffic is a true Parisian experience — you can get from the Louvre to the Arc de Triomphe to the Eiffel Tower in no time. I always enjoy visiting the Fondation Louis Vuitton ( 8 Avenue du Mahatma Gandhi; www.fondationlouisvuitton.fr). Frank Gehry’s marvellous, serenely modern architecture makes a perfect contrast to Bois de Boulogne’s beautiful gardens. I’m also willing to stand in line to visit the Grand Palais

( 3 Avenue du Général Eisenhower; www.grandpalais.fr/en), where I have seen some spectacular exhibitions.
