When Ole Lynggaard founded his business Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen in 1963, little did his son Søren imagine it would lead him from the jewellery markets of Denmark to a sheep farm in the Australian outback. Growing up, Lynggaard and his sister Charlotte were involved in every aspect of their father’s business, from building display stands to promoting the brand. But the road to success wasn’t straightforward.

“After school I had a cleaning job at the workshop and got to know the people and the craftsmanship. It was a bit difficult for me to find a straight career route

— so my education started on a sheep farm in Australia. It had a huge impact on my life,” Lynggaard says.

After a stint as a jackaroo, Lynggaard joined the company in 1994 as production manager. Now CEO, and with a staff of 150, he finds joy in crafting timeless pieces.

“We create intricate products that are designed to be part of a person’s life forever. It is wonderful to represent long-lasting values in a world where most brands have adjusted to reinventing themselves in the blink of an eye.

“Just last year, we opened our Paris flagship store. Now we all have the perfect excuse to visit one of our favourite cities in the world.”
