The most prestigious international shows known collectively as the “Big Four” fashion weeks draw fashionistas, insiders and celebrities to New York, London, Milan and Paris twice a year and have evolved into the most hotly anticipated events in the social, business, press and fashion calendars. Established in 1943, New York Fashion Week is described as “young, hip, diverse” and is considered to be the most casual week. Though London has a shorter history, it has become known for being more experimental, open nd and edgy than its counterparts. MAKE UP - It’s all about individuality
Paris Fashion Week went all out when it came to Spring/summer 2019 beauty, championing everything from tangerine hair and glossy skin to flashes of colour. Lucia Pica from Chanel, Peter Philips from Dior and Pat Mcgrath from Valentino are masters at playing with colour, shade, and finishing touches. Peter Philips defined a new world of beauty using Glow Addict for a truly unforgettable show where dance and fashion met, while Valentino’s look was described as “extravagant beauty”. The self-assurance shown by these accomplished fashion houses is perfectly in line with the notion of unbridled confidence and luxury.
High Fashion Down to Earth
When it comes to chic accessories, it’s all in the details. Karl Lagerfeld introduced bags as neckwear. Clare Waight Keller's stellar craftsmanship for Givenchy was displayed at its strongest with unique shapes in the colour-blocked leather bag being a stand out. From the magazine clutches at Balenciaga, the shell bag at Chanel, Gucci’s Mickey bag, Louis Vuitton’s flying saucer shape, and the beautiful bucket bag at Hermes, this year’s new designs all aim to resonate with the audience and bring them new realms of excitement.
