THE NEW GIRL POWER

“I am a fashion designer, and I’m so proud of that.

“Looking back, I am also proud of everything I achieved with the Spice Girls. It was Girl Power then and it still is now. I feel women are stronger when they support each other and I believe strongly in gender equality. I’m the mother of a young girl growing up in a world where women across the globe are in some of the highest positions of power and I think that is an incredibly strong, empowering message for my daughter and for future generations.

“I’m in awe of women everywhere, those who juggle their day-to-day life of family and career, and those who are quietly making a difference for future generations in whatever country they live in or sector they work in. Equally, I admire the likes of Hillary Clinton and Deborah Birx – women making a difference on the world stage!

“I love what I do and this doesn’t feel like a job. I don’t take any of this success for granted. I think it is very difficult to maintain success. I suppose you learn to appreciate everything more as you get older. It is very easy to lose something that you are passionate about, so I work very hard to make sure that I maintain everything I have. In both my professional and personal life I feel content. I am very lucky and very blessed, but in the background, I am working very hard to keep my life that way.

“I’m sure my hopes for the future are similar to those of every other wife, mother, daughter – that my husband, children and wider family are safe, happy and healthy. Professionally, I will continue to work hard and build my brand. Philanthropically, I endeavour to use my voice to raise awareness for those who may not be heard. I hope my involvement with UNAIDS and its partner NGOs continues, because I take that very seriously. I also want to grow my business, to enter more categories and open more boutiques, reaching out to countries where my collection is not currently available. I’m in no rush though. It’s important to me that I do things in the right way.”
