“SHEDD IS THE EASIEST WAY TO MAKE ROOM IN YOUR WARDROBE FOR NEW PURCHASES”

Behind every successful fashionista is a dynamic wardrobe. As a trendsetter for the inspirational style site They All Hate Us, Elle Ferguson is constantly updating her carefully curated collection. To make way for fresh looks, she uses the fashion app Shedd to sell clothes, shoes and accessories she doesn’t need or have space for, or that just aren’t her anymore.

In her career, Ferguson has mastered the art of personal reinvention. She’s relentlessly pursued her creative vision in a variety of roles over time – as a model, a student of interior design, a national and global visual merchandiser and now as a businesswoman. Since 2012, her blog and online shop has grown from a hobby into a full-time job. Here, she speaks about her signature style, constantly evolving fashion collection, and the secret to ‘Shedding’ the guilt of buyer’s remorse. How would you describe your style? Elle Ferguson: “I like to think of my style as cool and casual, but with the addition of amazing shoes and a fab handbag.” What’s the best item you’ve ever bought second-hand? EF: “I have the most amazing vintage silk dress that I bought in LA. It’s an absolute favourite.” Why are you using Shedd? EF: “I’m using Shedd ’cause it’s the easiest way to make more room in your wardrobe for new purchases. To be honest, it’s so simple – I can clean my wardrobe out in the morning, take a simple snap of the item and upload it to Shedd and then it’s for sale for everyone to see. Oh, and I love searching the hashtags.” What are you ‘Shedding’ and why? EF: “Manning Cartell heels – I’ve never worn them; they make me feel guilty every time I look at them. A Balmain for H&M jacket – I have, like, six black leather jackets, and this is just the latest one I bought. A Zimmermann top – I bought two of the same tops, and I may have bought them without trying them on. An Ellery dress – I bought this at a warehouse sale and intended on getting it altered, but I never did. A Zara jacket – I actually can’t fit this one in my wardrobe! And Céline sunnies – ask anyone who knows me, I have thousands of pairs of sunnies. The time has come to ‘Shedd’ some of them.” To give your fashion finds a new home and clear the way for your next look, download the Shedd app, available for iOS and Android.
