BINGEWORTHY BEAUTIES

From fashion to politics to old favourites and medieval thrillers, here is the pick of what to stream this summer.

THE BOLD TYPE

This light and colourful take on life inside a women’s magazine is a fun binge for lovers of fashion. The dramedy, set in New York and focusing on three besties who form a bond in the offices of fictional Scarlet magazine, was inspired by the life of former US womens’ magazine editor Joanna Coles (who oversees the show as an executive producer). We choose to remain mum on just how realistic it is. That is all. (Stan)

GAME OF THRONES

While summer is sweltering outside, winter is coming to our screens for a final time this April when the epic fantasy series Game of Thrones returns for a highly anticipated final season of six episodes. The trailer teases: “Every battle. Every betrayal. Every risk.” Everyone will be watching. (Foxtel)

BLOOM

“What would you give for a second chance?” ponders the trailer to the new Australian mystery drama series Bloom. With a stellar cast featuring Phoebe Tonkin, Ryan Corr, Bryan Brown and Jacki Weaver and set in an idyllic country town, Bloom debuts on New Years Day. (Stan)

BIG LITTLE LIES

Our favourite fabulous five – Nicole, Reese, Laura, Shailene and Zoë – return for the second series of Big Little Lies later this year, and are joined by none other than Meryl Streep. Streep plays the mother-in-law of Kidman’s character and will no doubt ruffle the feathers of the mothers in the tranquil-with-a-dark-side seaside town of Monterey when the Liane Moriarty-penned series returns to our screens. SECRET CITY: UNDER THE EAGLE

Secret City returns full of secrets, lies and the dark side of Canberra politics, with Anna Torv and the omnipresent Jacki Weaver reprising their starring roles in the award-winning show, joined this season by Danielle Cormack as a new maverick MP. (Foxtel)
