AMONG THE VINES
For the 150-year anniversary of Moët & Chandon’s brut drop Moët Impérial, 100-plus guests were invited to a spectacular candle-lit dinner in the vineyards below the recently renovated Château de Saran, the 19th-century country residence of Jean-Remy Moët, the grandson of the house’s founder. Among the guests were the likes of grand slam legend and brand ambassador Roger Federer, actors Natalie Portman and Uma Thurman, and models Kate Moss (looking a knock-out in a liquid-silk champagne-coloured jumpsuit) and Australia’s own Jessica Gomes. The sumptuous four-course meal was created by Michelin-starred chefs Yannick Alléno and Dominique Crenn and paired with an array of champagnes, including vintage drops and Impérial. Despite all the glamorous women in the room, LVMH bigwig Bernard Arnault seemed most star-struck by Federer, pronouncing him “elegance and perfection” in his welcome toast. An apt description for the night itself.
