AMANDA MURPHY

American model, radiology technologist and equestrienne, Amanda Murphy, who stars in fashion feature ‘The girl next door’, from page 176, says the shoot she worked on with Vogue creative director Jillian Davidson was captured “in two different vintage homes that felt like we had stepped out of a time machine”. Nominating the fluffy purple hat she wore on set as one of her favourite looks from the day, Murphy says she enjoyed “singing and dancing on the bathtub to Prince song Kiss and using the retractable shower head as a microphone”.

SAMANTHA HARRIS

“I was so excited and honoured that Vogue came along on this trip,” Australian model Samantha Harris says of her recent cross-country journey to the wilderness of the Kimberley with World Vision, which you can read about in the feature ‘Down-toearth’, from page 208. As a goodwill ambassador of the organisation, Harris saw first-hand how the charity works with Indigenous communities and was blown away by the impact. “I really loved finding out that it has been helping Aboriginal communities for over 45 years, which I never knew,” she says.

PAUL VASILEFF

Paul Vasileff has achieved a lot in his 29 years: launching his now acclaimed couture label Paolo Sebastian at 17, being named 2017’s Young Australian of the Year at 26, and having his gowns worn to the Oscars. But collaborating with Disney on two collections has been the ultimate dream come true for the designer, as he shares on page 62. With his label’s capsule for Frozen 2 about to launch, Vasileff (pictured above during his first research trip to Disneyland in 2017) reflects on one of the most gratifying aspects of the process: “It’s really special to see how excited people get when they see a gown that they perhaps connect with on a sentimental level because it reminds them of their favourite character or story.”

CLARE BOWDITCH

When Vogue was granted a preview of Aria award-winning musician and Logie-nominated actor Clare Bowditch’s brand-new memoir, Your Own Kind of Girl, we were hooked. An excerpt from her enlightening story can be found from page 212. While the artist, whose eighth album is due out next year, admits that “the most challenging part about writing this book was just actually writing it!”, she also found it rewarding. “Meeting others along the way who shared a similar story allowed me to understand that so many of us have a battle between dreams and self-doubt. It is a shared story, and a very human story.”
