FAVOURITE MEMORY:
There is a quality to the light in Tasmania – soft but clear – which reminds me of New Zealand. And the way the countryside changes from rolling plains to mountainous alpine so quickly.
Rowing down the Macquarie River at sunset, on my friend’s property out of Campbell Town [90 minutes north of Hobart] at Christmas time. It was one of those moments that really made me love Tasmania.

The Agrarian Kitchen Eatery in New Norfolk is great and always has fresh local produce. It’s on the site of an old psychiatric hospital, which adds to the character.

Getting the ferry to Bruny Island from Kettering. Walking over the Queens Domain from the city, through the University Rose Gardens to the Botanical Gardens to see the ancient brick walls, the Conservatory, the subarctic house and waterlily ponds. James Turrell at Mona.
Miss Arthur in New Norfolk has a really well-curated collection of home goods.
Farm Gate Market in Hobart, on every Sunday morning. I stayed at Captains Rest cabin in Strahan a couple of years ago and it was really beautiful and isolated; a home away from home. My friend Claire Lloyd has also created a wonderful little cabin in Lettes Bay called Bushy Summers, which I would love to go to.
