When Nicole Kidman discovered hair wellness brand Vegamour, not only did she start using the vegan, plant-based range, she invested in it too. The actor talks about the brand’s story and her hair journey. By Mahalia Chang.
VOGUE AUSTRALIA: What was it about Vegamour that drew you in?
NICOLE KIDMAN: “A few years ago, I realised my hair and scalp deserve as much attention and care as the rest of my body. Vegamour’s holistic approach to hair, which they call hair wellness, really drew me in. It recognises that hair health is dependent on both lifestyle and the products we use. We take care of our skin, but we don’t always care for our hair in the same way.”
VA: What turned you from a fan of the brand, into an investor?
NK: “I became involved as an investor and advocate because of my love for both the products and the passion behind Vegamour. After meeting Dan [Hodgdon], the founder, and seeing firsthand the amazing work the company was doing, I knew
I wanted to be a part of it and help support their mission. I’m deeply committed to championing companies that have a positive impact, and Vegamour’s dedication to giving back and supporting communities really resonates with me. When I first met Dan, we discussed how the company is on a mission to make a difference for all of us, particularly for the women involved in their fair trade partnerships around the world. Knowing that Vegamour has such good people behind it is truly important to me.”
VA: What is your hair maintenance routine?
NK: “Beyond taking care of myself as best I can, I wash my hair two times a week and use a really good detoxifying serum and mask once a week. I also love using a hair serum daily.
Consistency is really key with this product and I’ve noticed a huge difference with my hair. As an actor, my hair goes through so much between styling and colouring and it can become overstressed at times, so I search for products that are able to restore and nourish my hair the way it needs.”
VA: You’ve been known as a hair chameleon. What is your favourite hair look that you’ve had?
NK: “I loved my hair when I first started acting – the red, curly hair. After so many years of colouring and styling, my natural hair has changed so much. I miss my super curly hair.”
VA: Is there a hair look that you’d like to try?
NK: “Gosh, I don’t know. I’m always open to try something new!”
