Come alive

Vivid Sydney brings the city to life through its killer line-up of local musical talent, including these six artists.

A.GIRL

The future of Australian RnB is here. Meet A.GIRL; real name Hinenuiterangi Tairua, raised in Western Sydney and a rising star of the music scene since the release of her neighbourhood anthem “2142” in 2019. Her lyrics are playful, her tone confident and her sound? Made for the club. She’ll play Vivid Live with underground rap artist Agung Mango at Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour.

JACOTÉNE

At just 17, this powerhouse Melbourne singer was named Triple J’s winner of Unearthed High in 2022. Now, barely a year later, she’ll be headlining a solo performance at the Sydney Opera House during Vivid Live. It will be a chance to witness a star is born moment, which began with her Triple J Unearthed High single “I Need Therapy”, a soulful ballad fuelled by a one-of-a-kind voice.

Becca Hatch

The 22-year-old singer songwriter is making her Vivid Live debut this year, with no less than her very own solo show at the Sydney Opera House. Becca Hatch, a Kamilaroi-Samoan artist who hails from Western Sydney, has already netted a keen fandom courtesy of her smooth, fizzy pop sound on singles including “Blessed” and “Without You”, which will have you dancing all night long.

Jaguar Jonze

Art meets performance meets activism in The Art Of Broken Pieces, a one-woman show from Jaguar Jonze (Deena Lynch) at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid Live. This ambitious staging of her 2022 debut album Bunny Mode expands on the forceful, 11-track pop album to speak to her personal experiences as the survivor of abuse. As she sings: “You could’ve destroyed me, but then I got loud.”

Hatchie

Also taking over Tumbalong Park is Hatchie, the indie pop darling from Brisbane who is taking the world by storm. (At home, she goes by the name Harriette Pilbeam.) Hatchie’s 2022 album Giving The World Away was a hazy synth dream, full of heartsick love songs and a lush atmosphere. Get ready to feel all the feelings with her at Vivid Live.

Ziggy Ramo

Free for all at Tumbalong Park this Vivid Live is a performance by Wik and Solomon Island rapper Ziggy Ramo, who will be appearing alongside the iconic Yolngu supergroup Yothu Yindi. Between his two albums, 2020’s Black Thoughts and 2023’s Sugar Coated Lies, Ramo has cemented his status as an artist speaking truth to power, an icon already at the young age of 28.
