Alice McCall lives the Sydney life imagined – and envied – by many. “My home in Bronte is my haven – the area suits my home, work and play lifestyle perfectly, from picking up my morning latte and chia pudding from Cali Press to meeting friends for drinks later at Icebergs. Sipping cocktails as the sun sets over Bondi, how could you not love it there?” says the London-born designer, who launched her label in Sydney in 2004. “No matter where I showcase my collection I always come back to Sydney and the support I have here. I really embrace the outdoor culture; my designs are definitely influenced by the lifestyle I live in Bronte – I love experimenting with fabric techniques such as crochet and macramé that are so reminiscent of beach culture, and the injections of occasion wear like playsuits and mini-dresses also reflect the day-to-night lifestyle I live.” As a mother of two young daughters, the Bronte beach and pools are oft-frequented. “I love that my girls have grown up in and around the water,” says McCall.
