Face of an angel

The secret’s out. Max Factor, the official make-up partner of this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, created the beauty looks seen on the Angels. Here, all you need to know.

It’s known as the City of Light, and this year it also became the City of Angels as the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show hit the runway for the first time in Paris. The Grand Palais, on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, was the suitably glamorous setting for the annual fashion extravaganza that can be months in the making and features multi-million-dollar pieces and, of course, the head-turning models, aka Angels, with those fantastical wings. It’s these glamazons who epitomise modern glamour, from stepping out in show-stopping attire to their flawless make-up.

As official make-up partner for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Paris 2016, global beauty company Max Factor’s team of make-up artists created the signature look of glowing skin, vibrant eyes and fluttering lashes as seen on the Angels, including Stella Maxwell, who is the newest Max Factor ambassador. Maxwell, an international model who has appeared on the covers of overseas editions of Vogue and walked for Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Versace among others, joins supermodel Candice Swanepoel, a member of the Max Factor family since 2013. With the party season in full swing, the Angels’ beauty look is one that suits most women and is simple to re-create. It starts with Max Factor Miracle Touch Skin Smoothing Foundation, the official foundation of this year’s show. According to Liz Kelsh, Max Factor Australia head make-up artist, the all-in-one concealer, foundation and powder gives “luminous, flawless skin every time” and offers “the best of both worlds” as it goes from a solid to liquid when applied and then sets again.

For look-at-me eyes, define and contour using the Max Factor Masterpiece Nude Palette, a mix of eight matt and shimmery shades, and then add drama with Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara. A slick of moisturising Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in Maroon Dust completes the look that will take you from day to night all summer long.
