YOU OPENED THE LOUIS VUITTON 2018 RESORT SHOW AT THE MIHO MUSEUM IN KYOTO. HOW IMPORTANT WAS IT FOR YOU TO BE PART OF SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SHOWCASE OF YOUR HOME AND CULTURE? “It was such an honour to be a part of once-in-a-lifetime event in my home country, and to walk the LV show by Nicolas Ghesquière. It was truly an amazing experience for me. Fashion shows are not something I normally do, so I felt tremendous responsibility in addition to being a bit nervous. It was also my first time [at the Miho Museum], and I felt overwhelmed to be there for such a special occasion. It was breathtaking.” HOW DID YOU ENJOY THIS SHOOT WITH VOGUE AUSTRALIA AND JACKIE NICKERSON? “It was a lot of fun! Wonderful staff, and Jackie was truly a joy to work with. Her point of view was very fresh, and it was very different from any other shooting I’ve done.” YOU MADE YOUR FILM DEBUT IN THE WOLVERINE ALONGSIDE HUGH JACKMAN IN 2013. WHAT WAS THAT LIKE? “It was such a humbling experience. He is the most down-to-earth person I have ever met. Despite his extraordinary talent and exceptional work ethic, he does not act like a big movie star at all. He truly cares about everybody in the cast and crew, and his family. He is quick to help people in need of help and genuinely wants everybody to be happy.” WHAT DID YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT FILMING THE WOLVERINE IN AUSTRALIA? “The people – everybody was very friendly and relaxed. I was very nervous and exhausted with the hard filming schedule. Everything was new to me, my acting and stunts … but everybody in the production made me feel at home. Nature, great food and friendly staff. I loved being near the ocean, too.” YOU ALSO APPEARED AS A RED PRIESTESS IN GAME OF THRONES AND IN GHOST IN THE SHELL PLAYING ANOTHER FANTASY CHARACTER. DO YOU ENJOY THESE TYPES OF ROLES? “Yes, but I enjoy watching action/fantasy even more. My all-time favourite is Star Wars! I certainly do enjoy those roles, but I want to try drama, and comedy is something some day as well.” DOES BEING AN ACTOR HELP WHEN YOU ARE MODELLING? “I think so, and it works the other way around. Having a modelling background helped me a lot when I was acting in front of a camera.” HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO BE A FEMALE ROLE MODEL? “I never considered myself as a role model but if, through my work, I could somehow give a little courage to a girl who is unsure about herself, that would make me happy.”
