Boss lady brunch

VOGUE Australia - - VOGUE SOIREE -

Vogue Australia partnered with Tinder for Australia’s first Boss Lady Brunch event at the Watson’s Bay Boutique Hotel, with Vogue’s digital editorial director Julia Frank quizzing girl boss, entrepreneur and Stylerunner CEO Julie Stevanja on what it takes to be just that: a boss lady. While the event was a first for Australia, it was just one of many that have taken place across the globe. The Boss Lady Brunch series is designed to inspire and encourage the girl boss spirit in women everywhere, while they enjoy a curated brunch, learn from leaders and make meaningful connections. During the event, Stevanja shared what she has learnt as the boss and CEO of the online sportswear retailer Stylerunner. “In those first few years I really tried to put in as much effort as I could. I was down at the warehouse getting boxes, doing whatever it took,” Stevanja recalls of kicking off her now booming business. “Now I think my role is really about empowering my team and so I try to work less in the business and more on the business …” Guests – including The Daily Edited’s Alyce Tran, influencers Nadia Fairfax and Tanja Gacic, as well as Macgraw duo Tessa and Beth MacGraw – sipped on Tinder-branded coconuts and enjoyed açai and the delicious cuisine on offer from the Watson’s Bay Boutique Hotel kitchen.

The event also gave leaders a chance to network, meeting like-minded individuals who are carving out their own paths in business.

“By connecting with other entrepreneurs you really are connecting with people who are going through something similar to you and it’s just so good to meet with people who understand the pressures involved,” says Stevanja of the day. Lilith Hardie Lupica
