GARAGES IN THE SKY, high-tech home automation and hotel-style concierge services are among the features of a brand new Melbourne development bringing Australia’s luxury apartment market in line with the best in the world. Neue Grand is a lavish 20-storey tower of 18 ‘whole-floor’ residences on St Kilda Road, each with a sprawling 360-square metre floorplan that includes a glass-walled garage for residents to display their luxury cars next to their living rooms. The sky garages are a first for the southern hemisphere and headline a suite of state-of-theart features introduced by developer Growland to elevate Melbourne’s luxury apartment market to match that of Singapore, New York and Miami. Growland chairman and founder Bruce Chan says demand for ‘ultra-prestigious’ apartment projects is growing internationally. “We are setting a new standard for residential living that puts this project on the world stage, comparable with some of the most extravagant buildings around the globe,” he says. Each of the three-bedroom apartments will occupy its own level of the building, which was designed by award-winning architecture firm Rothelowman and launched officially last month. This ‘whole-floor’ concept has permitted apartment living at a far greater scale and level of privacy for residents, according to Mr Chan, offering the spatial dimensions of a free-standing house as well as panoramic views across the city. As for the sky garages, residents will drive their vehicle into the German-engineered parking system from the ground floor, where licence plate recognition technology permits secure entry. They will then exit the vehicle and travel up to their residence in a private lift, while the automated high-speed parking system simultaneously sends the car skywards and slides it into the apartment’s double-space display case. Interiors have been designed to serve as the perfect canvas to showcase these luxury cars, as well as Neue Grand’s position in the heart of central Melbourne. Retractable glass doors create a seamless transition between the large open-plan kitchen and dining zone and the outdoor terrace, while the lounge area is surrounded by floor-toceiling glass to take in the view. Entry is via a private lobby using a secure identification system, and heating, cooling, lighting and blinds are controlled by cutting-edge home automation software. Convenience was also key to establishing Neue Grand’s position at the top of prestige property market, and according to Growland CEO Ronald Chan, the driving force behind the decision to install a hotel-style concierge service in the lobby. “We know that for buyers in this luxury market, convenience is king, which is why we have developed a suite of six-star hotel-style services to make residents’ lives easier,” he said. The suite of services includes day-to-day personal admin tasks such as managing deliveries and booking taxis, and extends to coordinating household staff, personal trainers, beauty therapists as well as event planning and pet care. Neue Grand residents also have access to a state-of-the-art gymnasium, private dining room and club lounge, as well as the landscaped gardens and terraces, further adding to the services and amenities on offer. “Everything about this project raises the bar for luxury apartment living,” Mr Chan says. “We’re proud to be the ones to bring it to Australia.” For more information on Neue Grand, visit neuegrand.com.au
