LIGNE ROSET
Ligne Roset’s relaunch of its undulating, multitasking Asmara sofa — originally designed by a then-young rising architect, Bernard Govin in 1966 — captured the curvy, retro aesthetic of this year’s Maison&Objet. Ingeniously arranged in either six or 16 all-foam modular compositions, plus a slot-on tray table, the Asmara hugs the body for laid-back lounging. “The Asmara — inventive, lyrical and revolutionary — remains one of the most pioneering pieces in our back catalogue,” says Olivier Roset, Ligne Roset’s general manager, of the handcrafted sofa he believes perfectly sums up the very best of his family business’s 160-year history being celebrated in 2020.
