SHOW: Adam Hills: The Last Leg CHANNEL: ABC TIME: Various times
I’VE always remembered Adam Hills as a funny guy. From watching Spicks and Specks with my parents for years and loving it, to enjoying the comedy and talk show, The Last Leg. The Australian comedian, with co-hosts Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker, originally ran the show alongside the 2012 Summer Paralympics every night following the main coverage on Channel 4 and gave an alternative review of the day’s events. The jokes were a good balance of humour and respect for the Paraolympians and celebrating their achievements, which the show could get away with due to two out of three of the hosts having physical disabilities themselves. Adam, born without a right foot, and Alex born with hand and arm deformities and now sporting a prosthetic leg, both could understand and relate to many of the Paralympians. Featuring a mix of comedy, guests and Paralympics highlights, the show received strong reviews and regularly pulled in more than a million viewers each night of the Paralympic Games. It has since become a weekly show giving a humorous alternative look back at the week’s events, similar to, but a little more relaxed, than Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell.
