ARTIST and author Leigh Hobbs will visit Wangaratta next week.

Best known for his children’s books, including Old Tom, Mr Chicken, and Horrible Harriet, Mr Hobbs will be the centre of a free signing and meet and greet session at Booktique in Reid Street on Monday from 4.30pm to 5pm, and will conduct workshops at Wangaratta West Primary School on Tuesday.

Michelle Delle Vergin from Booktique said a host of Mr Hobbs’ books would be available to buy on Monday afternoon.

“But anybody who has their muchloved old copy of Old Tom is more than welcome to bring it along to be signed,” she said.

Mr Hobbs’ visit will continue the work he undertook as 2016-’17 Australian Children’s Laureate, when the theme of his term was “to champion creative opportunities for children, and to highlight the essential role libraries play in nurturing our creative lives”.
