Say thanks for a pet love with a bless­ing on Sun­day

FAM­ILY pets are of­ten re­ferred to as mem­bers of the fam­ily them­selves.

They can be some­one’s best friend, loyal com­pan­ion and source of com­fort.

Be­cause of this, the Angli­can Dio­cese of Wan­garatta, and many churches and re­li­gions through­out his­tory, per­form pet bless­ings to ac­knowl­edge the im­por­tance of pets in peo­ple’s lives.

Fa­ther Ken Goodger will be per­form­ing pet bless­ings this Sun­day for any­one and ev­ery­one who wants to at­tend.

“The oc­ca­sion gives thanks to pets for their love, com­pan­ion­ship and fidelity,” he said.

“We do it out­side on the front lawn, sing some hymns, do a bi­ble read­ing around an­i­mals and give each pet a bless­ing.

“We have seen peo­ple who don’t at­tend church come to the bless­ings.”

The pet bless­ings will take place at the Angli­can Dio­cese of Wan­garatta at 13 The Close, at 4pm this Sun­day.
