Say thanks for a pet love with a blessing on Sunday
FAMILY pets are often referred to as members of the family themselves.
They can be someone’s best friend, loyal companion and source of comfort.
Because of this, the Anglican Diocese of Wangaratta, and many churches and religions throughout history, perform pet blessings to acknowledge the importance of pets in people’s lives.
Father Ken Goodger will be performing pet blessings this Sunday for anyone and everyone who wants to attend.
“The occasion gives thanks to pets for their love, companionship and fidelity,” he said.
“We do it outside on the front lawn, sing some hymns, do a bible reading around animals and give each pet a blessing.
“We have seen people who don’t attend church come to the blessings.”
The pet blessings will take place at the Anglican Diocese of Wangaratta at 13 The Close, at 4pm this Sunday.
SAYING THANKS: Fr Ken Goodger, with Jill Mallinder and her dog Sapphire, are looking forward to this Sunday’s pet blessing service.
