Applications open for federal fund which has bankrolled $7m locally
WANGARATTA and district organisations have been encouraged to apply to round three of the $200 million Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) by Cathy McGowan (MHR, Indi).
“This funding helps to support major projects in regional areas and boost community options in country towns,” Ms McGowan said.
“Indi has had great success with the BBRF in the past.
“Almost $7 million has been delivered to Wangaratta since August last year.”
In 2017, Wangaratta Turf Club received $2.2 million for stage two of its redevelopment project; $18,000 went to the Into Our Hands Community Foundation for its Introducing Philanthropy to Wangaratta program; and Australian Women In Agriculture received $20,000 for AgendHER Plus sessions in Wangaratta to assist women with board and governance preparedness.
In July this year, $4.4 million was allocated to redevelop and update the Wangaratta Indoor Sport and Aquatic Centre.
Eligible projects for round three need to include construction of new infrastructure, or upgrades or extensions to existing infrastructure that will provide economic and social benefits to the community.
Applicants must have an ABN.
Up to $45 million from the fund has been earmarked to support tourism related infrastructure projects in round three.
Applications close on November 15.
