Wangaratta SES unit to get more equipment

Wangaratta Chronicle - - News -

WANGARATTA’S State Emergency Service will receive new equipment, as part of a $600,000 funding injection to the state body by insurer, AAMI.

The funding will be used to purchase around 2000 pieces of equipment across the state, as part of the AAMI equipment handover program, which has seen more than $8 million donated over the past 16 years.

Equipment to be purchased includes power tools, hydraulic rescue tools, generators, chainsaws and remote area lighting.

Stephen Griffin, VICSES chief executive officer, said the equipment funded by AAMI helps the state’s 5000 SES volunteers provide an invaluable service, both in emergency response and community education.
