Grandma nabbed in late night intercept
A YARRAWONGA woman, remanded in custody since Friday for drug and driving offences allegedly committed in Wangaratta, is expected to appear in Wangaratta Magistrates court this morning.
Sergeant Damian Loiterton of Wangaratta police said the 44 year old grandmother appeared briefly in court on Friday, but made no application for bail.
She was arrested in the early hours of Friday after the Wangaratta night shift divisional van crew intercepted her vehicle in Batchelor Crescent.
Police found the woman was unlicensed and the vehicle unroadworthy.
Police searched the vehicle and allegedly found a large amount of cannabis, methamphetamine and assorted pills.
They also found that the driver was on bail for similar offending.
Police impounded the vehicle.
