Sum­mer fun in parks pro­gram

NEW Year’s Eve, an Out­door Ball and Aus­tralia Day cel­e­bra­tions will head­line the Ru­ral City of Wan­garatta’s 2018/19 Sum­mer in the Parks pro­gram.

The pro­gram has been launched this week and fea­tures both clas­sic re­turn­ing events and new ad­di­tions.

It will kick off to­mor­row night with the light­ing of the Christ­mas tree in the River­side Square from 6.30pm.

Large crowds are ex­pected to en­joy the Wan­garatta Carols by Can­dle­light at Mer­riwa Park this Sun­day.

An ex­panded Gar­den Se­ries through­out Jan­uary will in­clude tai chi, yo­galates and karate, while El­do­rado and Moyhu will be­come home to pop-up cine­mas.

The pro­gram is de­signed to unite com­mu­nity mem­bers through sport, mu­sic and cel­e­bra­tions ac­cord­ing to mayor Dean Rees.

“Coun­cil and other com­mu­nity groups put these events on to cel­e­brate what’s great about Wan­garatta in sum­mer,” he said.

“What bet­ter way to en­joy your sum­mer than head­ing out to great evening events like the Out­door Ball, and start­ing your morn­ings with some free ex­er­cise in the beau­ti­ful King Ge­orge V Gar­dens. “I’ll see you there.” The full Sum­mer in the Parks pro­gram can be ac­cessed on­line at www.wan­garatta.

House­holds will also re­ceive a fridge mag­net with pro­gram high­lights.
