Table Tennis launches into finals fixture

Wangaratta Chronicle - - Sport -

THE last round of matches in the Wangaratta Table Tennis Association’s spring competition was played on November 28. Qualifying teams readied themselves for the sudden death preliminary finals next week. A grade. Ladder leaders Somerset Comms went down 5-6 to thirdplaced Homemakers, but managed to hold top spot by percentage.

Somerset Comms will face Constable Connor who limped into fourth position and look odds-on for an early exit.

The other A grade final will feature Brownles Builders against Homemakers who finished second and third respectively.

These two teams were separated by only the smallest of margins and the chance for a grand final berth is well and truly open to both sides in what will be a thrilling match. B grade.

West End Lotto secured top place and will meet cellar dwellers Blue Raven with the outcome seemingly a forgone conclusion.

The other B grade final will be a much closer affair with NE Ag and Industrial lining up against Kate’s Cottage, who should go into the match as favourites but have been known for the occasional catastrophic brain fade. C grade. Morris Bros narrowly retained top spot on the ladder and will play Constable Connor, who scrambled from second from the bottom to grab a shot at the final. Smart money is on Morris Bros. The other C grade final will pit NE Ag and Industrial against Laser Electrical. These teams have been neck and neck all season but the dynamic mollydooker, Darren Edwards, might just tip the scales in the favour of Laser Electrical.
