Happy tears for annual onion crop in Myrtleford
AN elderly man was flown by air ambulance from Mt Buffalo after being bitten by a snake over the weekend.
The 80 year old was about four kilometres from Cresta Valley on the Back Wall Track when he was bitten on the thigh by a brown snake on Saturday morning.
Bright SES deputy controller Graham Gales said the man was with a retired doctor who initially treated the bite.
“Local ambos and SES responded and waited at Cresta to confirm that the helicopter could winch him out,” he said.
“They were able to do that, and he was flown to Wangaratta hospital to be treated.”
