Stevie J back at Magpies

FORMER Geelong premiership superstar and current Sydney assistant coach Steve Johnson will return to the Norm Minns Oval tomorrow morning.

With the Swans finished for 2018, Johnson is back in Wangaratta for Christmas but will take the Magpies’ senior and under 18 players for a onehour skills session tomorrow morning.

Johnson, a former Wangaratta junior before being drafted by Geelong back in 2001, is a keen follower of the club and jumped at the chance to get involved with the modern day Magpies.

It will be the Magpies’ final session of the year and senior coach Luke Morgan said it was great to have someone of Johnson’s calibre taking the players through their paces.

“When the idea was floated we knew it was only a couple of days before Christmas but the buy-in has been great by the players,” he said.

“It will only be a brief session but it will be outstanding to have Steve taking the group for a skills session.

“He had an outstanding career and it’s great that he wants to come along and take the boys.

“It’s great exposure for our players to have someone like Steve taking training.”

Wangaratta FNC memberships are now available - check the club’s website for details.
