Wangaratta Chronicle - - News -

MASSIVE crowds turned out on Saturday night to farewell one of Wangaratta’s most iconic nightspots at the Albion Hotel.

Affectionately called The Zoo, the hotel’s nightclub attracted revellers and romantics over four decades but sadly closed its doors at the weekend for the last time.

The hotel will go up for sale and is not expected to re-open as a nightclub.

It was a crowd of all ages at the weekend and despite long queues and waiting times local police reported the crowd was well behaved.

Wangaratta Chronicle journalist Simone Kerwin was there to soak up the atmosphere and revisit a venue that made a profound impact on her life.

Don’t miss her story in Friday’s Wangaratta Chronicle.
