Under 19 football comp to go ahead in 2019
AFTER the release of the official Ovens and King Football Netball League fixture earlier in the week the OKFNL is pleased to confirm that the U19 competition will continue into the 2019 season in the same format as the 2018 season.
The competition is currently made up of Southern Suns, Snow Road Saints, Londrigan Bulls and Alpine Eagles provides an opportunity for up to 80 participants to be involved in OKFNL football each week during the football season.
The OKFNL and AFL North East Border have worked with the clubs involved in the competition since the completion of the 2018 season in September to ensure that all involved will be able to field a team and remain sustainable for 2019, a scenario that the clubs and league are confident will come to fruition.
The upcoming season will also be used to continue the discussion around the best model for the leagues underage competition, with face to face discussions with the clubs already underway and set to continue early in the New Year, along with neighbouring leagues in the region.
“The aim of these discussions will be to achieve the best outcome for, in particular, the participants in this age group, but to also ensure that the competition model is manageable for the clubs and leagues involved,” League Manager Zac Hedin said.
“Over the years, those involved in OKFNL thirds have put in an incredible amount of work year in year out and that certainly shouldn’t go unrecognised.”
The official OKFNL U19’s competition fixture is expected to be released early in the New Year.
For those looking to get involved in the OKFNL U19’s competition next season it is advised that you contact the clubs that are listed above directly, details can be found on the OKFNL website.
