LOOKING FORWARD TO NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATIONS IN APEX PARK

Free community celebrations of a movie and fireworks are again hoping to atttract many families.
WANGARATTA’S Apex Park will be filled with thousands of revellers for the countdown to 2019.
The annual family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration will take place on Monday, December 31 with children’s activities, live music, food trucks, a moonlight movie and two spectacular sets of fireworks.
Live music from 7pm will feature Scott and Amanda and the Junkmail Band, followed by the 9.15pm fireworks.
This year’s moonlight movie will have kids up on their feet and singing along to ‘The Greatest Showman’ followed by the midnight fireworks to welcome in the New Year.
Food available on the night will include ice cream, wood fired pizzas, barbecue, nachos and hot dogs.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the New Year as a community,” said Rural City of Wangaratta mayor Dean Rees.
“Spend the evening with family and friends, bring a picnic or purchase food by one of the local food vendors and enjoy the entertainment.”
The Sandhu family will be among the local families looking to enjoy the New Year’s Eve festivities in Apex Park.
Kulvir Kaur Sandhu said her family attends the event every year.
“This will be our third New Year’s event in Wangaratta after moving from Melbourne,” she said.
“Every year our extended family comes down from Melbourne and we have dinner before coming to the movie and fireworks.
“It’s such a nice change from the city and it’s always a good event, we enjoy being a part of it every year and love being here in Wangaratta.”
