Food trucks tick­ling taste buds

PEO­PLE have had their first taste of the City of Wan­neroo’s food truck trial.

The mo­bile ven­dors have been vis­it­ing parks in Gir­rawheen, Koon­doola, Alexan­der Heights, Made­ley, Lands­dale, Wan­neroo, Min­darie and Quinns Rocks.

Fol­low­ing a coun­cil res­o­lu­tion on De­cem­ber 6, two mod­els of op­er­a­tion form part of the six-month trial.

The first runs in the South ward, with one op­er­a­tor or­gan­is­ing the trucks, while the other model in all wards re­quires reg­is­tered food truck own­ers to or­gan­ise co-or­di­na­tion and ros­ter­ing them­selves for the ap­proved hours and lo­ca­tions.

Lands­dale res­i­dent Peter Jenk­ins is man­ag­ing model one and has signed up four ven­dors, which op­er­ate Fri­day to Mon­day evenings at Shelvock Park in Koon­doola, Gir­rawheen’s Black­more Park and Highview Park in Alexan­der Heights. He has another 10 ap­pli­ca­tions be­ing pro­cessed and aims to of­fer three main meal food trucks per night.
