Carn­aby ‘crew’ set to wel­come pupils

EX­CITE­MENT is build­ing at a new Lands­dale school as staff pre­pare to wel­come students for the first time.

Carn­aby Rise Pri­mary School prin­ci­pal Karen Gi­a­co­mucci said there was a “real buzz” ahead of the first school day to­mor­row.

“We’re all so ex­cited and re­ally look­ing for­ward to day one,” she said.

There are more than 240 chil­dren en­rolled from kinder­garten to Year 6 but stu­dent num­bers were “grow­ing ev­ery sin­gle day”.

The school will have a fo­cus on early child­hood ed­u­ca­tion through its na­ture play­ground, as well as arts and sci­ence, tech­nol­ogy, engi­neer­ing and maths (STEM).

“The tech­nol­ogy is state-ofthe art be­cause it’s all new,” Ms Gi­a­co­mucci said.

“We’ve got a re­ally fast in­ter­net ser­vice.”

She said a large num­ber of teach­ing ap­pli­ca­tions were re­ceived, with 17 staff em­ployed, in­clud­ing two grad­u­ate teach­ers.
