Hun­dreds now Aussies

About 800 peo­ple be­came cit­i­zens at Wan­neroo Show­ground on Aus­tralia Day.

Orig­i­nat­ing from about 50 coun­tries, they took part in the coun­try’s big­gest cer­e­mony on Jan­uary 26, hosted by the City of Wan­neroo.

Guests in­cluded Pre­mier Colin Bar­nett and Op­po­si­tion Leader Mark McGowan.

The Wan­neroo Scout Group pro­vided a break­fast bar­be­cue be­fore the cer­e­mony and Mayor Tracey Roberts an­nounced win­ners of the City’s Aus­tralia Day awards.

Re­cip­i­ents in­cluded the Two Rocks Yanchep As­sisted Can­cer Trav­els group, Wan­neroo pi­o­neer Carmela Si­na­gra and teen phi­lan­thropist Alicia Ta­vani.
