GAMES, bingo and puzzles added up to a fun week of maths for Connolly Primary School students recently.

The school took park in Maths Week from May 22-26 to raise awareness of numeracy and encourage students to enjoy maths.

Students took part in a variety of maths activities, including Place Value activities, Paul Swan maths games, Place Value Bingo, Tangrams and Barrier games.

The Kindergarten and Preprimary students enjoyed their annual puzzle-a-thon, which involved breakfast, pyjamas and playing puzzles together.

Students also did a maths activity with their buddy class throughout the week, where older students mentored younger ones.

“Maths activity week is about building enjoyment of mathematics,” associate principal Robert Marshall said.

“Too many students develop anxiety about maths and this activity week serves to break down some of those barriers.”
