SWIM­MERS are set to make a splash at the an­nual Dol­phin Olympics in Wanneroo this week­end.

More than 80 swim­mers from Wanneroo Aquamo­tion’s Dol­phin Pro­gram for peo­ple with spe­cial needs will take part in the an­nual com­pe­ti­tion on Sun­day.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said it would be a great event.

“I love go­ing along to the Dol­phin Olympics – it is so lovely to see our swim­mers in the wa­ter hav­ing fun and en­joy­ing them­selves,” she said.

“Com­mu­nity events like these are im­por­tant in cel­e­brat­ing the di­ver­sity of those liv­ing within our City and the Dol­phin Olympics are al­ways an event with lots of smiles and laugh­ter.”

The pro­gram has been run­ning for about 20 years and has more than 180 chil­dren and adult stu­dents.

The event starts at 9.30am.
