Apartments to bring ‘choice and diversity’ to Greenwood

Wanneroo Times - - News - Tyler Brown

A THREE-storey apartment complex has been approved as part of the redevelopment of the former East Greenwood Primary School site.

The project will include 10 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom dwellings at 63 Mulligan Drive – owned by the Department of Housing – with vehicle access from a rear laneway.

The development, which is part of the first of two stages, aims to bring “housing choice and diversity into the local area”.

It will be located centrally within the redevelopment area, next to proposed public open space to the west and proposed residential lots to the north and south.

Development approvals have been issued for the construction of single and two-storey dwellings on these proposed lots.

The report from last Tuesday’s council meeting said the development complied with the requirements of the City’s planning policies, except for “visitor parking, plot ratio and dwelling diversity”. The development is required to include 16 residential car bays and four visitor bays, but instead only has 18 bays onsite.

However, the document said visitor parking was proposed to be accommodated via the 15 on-street parking bays to the west of the development.

“It is considered that the overall design of the development, along with the areas of discretion sought, are appropriate within the context of the East Greenwood redevelopment site,” the document said.
