Vol­un­teers thanked

LI­BRARY and her­itage ser­vices vol­un­teers have been recog­nised for their con­tri­bu­tions to the City of Wan­neroo.

The City hosted a din­ner for the 77 vol­un­teers to ac­knowl­edge their work with Buck­ing­ham House, Cock­man House, the com­mu­nity his­tory mu­seum, Books on Wheels, Wan­neroo Li­brary and Cul­tural Cen­tre and Wan­neroo Gallery.

Cock­man House guide Bev Bing­ham was among the eight peo­ple pre­sented with a Vol­un­teer Ex­cel­lence Award on the night.

Other win­ners were Buck­ing­ham House vol­un­teer Pam Wells, David Payne from Books on Wheels, Girrawheen and Clark­son li­braries English con­ver­sa­tion group vol­un­teers Ge­orge Belin, Wilke Clyde and Peter Mel­drum, Tracey Gra­ham for her com­mu­nity his­tory sup­port and gallery helper Chris­tiane Rhodes.

“We are proud and hum­bled by the con­tin­ued com­mit­ment our vol­un­teers pro­vide to our res­i­dents, and events like these give us a chance to ac­knowl­edge their out­stand­ing ser­vice,” Wan­neroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said.

“On be­half of our res­i­dents, I would like to ex­tend a very big thank you to each vol­un­teer who gives their time so self­lessly, mak­ing a last­ing dif­fer­ence to our com­mu­nity.”
