New school on way
BANKSIA Grove is set to get another $22 million primary school in 2020, with temporary classrooms opening in 2019 for the youngest students.
West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti welcomed the State Government announcement of the Grandis Boulevard school to service the eastern part of the suburb.
Ms Saffioti said a Banksia Grove east primary school was one of her key election commitments.
“This is the delivery of a key election commitment for the growing area,” she said.
“It reflects that education is a key priority for our government.”
Construction is due to start this year, with temporary facilities for the first students in kindergarten and pre-primary to use in 2019.
Permanent facilities, due to open in February 2020, will include an administration building, library, staff room, early childhood building, three general classroom buildings, a covered assembly area, canteen, music room, hard courts, oval and parking areas.
An early childhood facility will be onsite as well.
Education Minister Sue Ellery and West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti promote the new school.
