HOW TO GIVE ACCURATE DESCRIPTION
THE A to I method is way you can describe an offender to help us identify them. Write the information down as soon as possible after seeing the person: A. Age. B. Build. C. Clothing (full description, colours, logos. Don’t forgot hats and caps which often have logos, or anything they are carrying). D. Defining features (e.g. tattoos, scars etc.). E. Elevation (height – use a point of reference to help gauge, e.g. same size as a 6’ wall). F. Face (features, shape etc.). G. Gait (how did they stand, walk, mannerisms etc.). H. Hair (length, colour, style etc.). I. Identity – Gender and whether Caucasian, darkskinned etc. - Officer-in-charge Sergeant Stephen Thompson.
