Art transformation paves the way

Wanneroo Times - - Street Watch -

COLOURFUL paintings have transformed dull grey cabinets across Perth as part of a Water Corporation campaign.

Artist Hayley Welsh recently painted a wastewater electrical cabinet near the Marmion Angling and Aquatic Club, while Mullaloo artist Peter Ryan painted another in South Perth.

Welsh said her painting was inspired by the place, incorporating her surreal characters and a message for people on the coastal path.

Ryan said he tried to incorporate the surrounding area into his mural in South Perth.

The Splash of Colour community art program involves transforming water and wastewater electrical cabinets, described by Water Minister Dave Kelly as “grey square boxes”, into public art pieces.
