Greg re-Hired by Perth Wildcats
THE Perth Wildcats have resigned vice-captain Greg Hire.
The former Joondalup Wolves player began his career with the Wildcats in 2010 as a development player and has played more than 200 NBL games and won three championships.
He will again lead the club’s non-starting five.
Hire has played in 209 NBL games and last season became just the fifth West Australian to play 200 games with the Perth Wildcats.
The 30-year-old has played in 29 finals, and was looking to pass on the values and experience that had helped him throughout his career.
“Irrespective of how many minutes I play, or the impact I have on the court, I know I can play a valuable role in terms of imparting what it means to play for this club,” he said.
Hire’s role in the WA community is not just limited to the court, with the player recently named West Australian of the Year in the youth category for his several charities and initiatives to help provide mentoring and promote mental wellbeing for at-risk youth.
With the signing of Hire, the Wildcats now have one roster position remaining.
He joins Bryce Cotton, Nick Kay, Mitch Norton, Tom Jervis, Damian Martin, Angus Brandt, Jesse Wagstaff, Clint Steindl and Rhys Vague on the roster ahead of the 2018-19 NBL season.
