New centre takes command
A NEW State Operations Command Centre will serve as a “nerve centre” for 15 police districts across WA, according to Police Minister Michelle Roberts. Ms Roberts and Police Commissioner Chris Dawson (pictured) officially opened the centre on June 29. The centre provides a 24-7 oversight of WA activity, including statewide CCTV coverage, as part of a new intelligence and command portfolio. The unveiling of the centre comes ahead of changes to the metropolitan policing districts on July 2. The current four districts will be increased to eight, with the North West Metro District splitting into the Joondalup and Mirrabooka districts. Ms Roberts said the centre fit in with the restructure of the WA Police Force.
