Group grows into north­ern sub­urbs

NA­TIONAL or­gan­i­sa­tion Grow has started sup­port groups for peo­ple with men­tal health con­di­tions in But­ler and Con­nolly.

The char­ity runs pro­grams giv­ing peo­ple op­por­tu­ni­ties to share their sto­ries and talk about chal­lenges and so­lu­tions for re­cov­ery.

It has free peer-led groups that meet at the But­ler Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Kings­bridge Boule­vard from 10am to noon ev­ery Fri­day and at Con­nolly Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Glenelg Place from 7pm to 9pm on Thurs­days.

“Grow is recog­nised for its unique ap­proach to de­vel­op­ing lead­ers in men­tal health re­cov­ery, through mu­tual help, and friend­ship,” field­worker Ben Hall said.

“Our mis­sion is to em­power peo­ple with a men­tal health con­di­tion or ill­ness to take their re­spon­si­ble and car­ing place in the wider com­mu­nity.

“By work­ing to­gether, learn­ing to­gether and shar­ing ex­pe­ri­ences, we help one an­other grow to our full po­ten­tial.”
