THE Duncraig Edible Garden is growing strong four years after its official opening. The once-bare concrete circle in the forecourt of Duncraig Public Library is now full of many different edible plants. There are fruit trees on the slope north of the circle and a verge garden to the south as well as wicking beds. After a two-year pilot phase, the first community garden on public space in the City of Joondalup now operates as an independent incorporated organisation. It hosts workshops on popular gardening and sustainability, and on November 24 Uncle Tom Little will talk about Landcare and spirituality. On December 8, there will be a community celebration open to the public from 9.30am. Visit duncraigediblegarden.org.au.
