Police find man in wardrobe
MIRRABOOKA Detectives have charged an Innaloo man with stealing from Coles in Maylands after he was arrested while hiding in the wardrobe of a Scarborough home.
The 19-year-old was arrested on November 20 after police gained information about his location following an earlier car chase.
Police had chased the man about 11.10am in Girrawheen but he allegedly fled by driving recklessly.
Bayswater police officerin-charge John Waghorn said the arrest was a result of inquiries stemming from the burglary that happened at 1.40am at Coles Maylands on October 31.
“On November 13 and November 17 there were two other burglaries – one committed in Mirrabooka and one in Cash Converters in Midland,” he said.
“On November 6, Mirrabooka Detectives commenced urgent inquiries to a potential suspect.
“They ended up locating a bloke in a house in Scarborough where he was hiding in a wardrobe on November 20.
“As a result, they then searched the premises and found some items from the burglary.”
Senior Sergeant Waghorn said the matter had been resolved and it was a good result for police.
The man was charged with one count of aggravated burglary and commit, two counts of stealing, aggravated reckless driving to avoid police, failing to comply with direction to stop, no authority to drive an unlicensed vehicle and breach of bail.
He appeared before Perth Magistrates Court last week.
