Name of the game
A DOCUMENTARY about the life of actor David Gulpilil will premiere in Perth with a Q&A screening at Luna Leederville on Tuesday.
My Name is Gulpilil looks back over his 50-year screen career that includes the two highest-grossing Australian films of all time, Crocodile Dundee and Australia, as well as his unforgettable performances in the likes of Walkabout, Storm Boy and Rabbit Proof Fence.
Now terminally ill, Gulpilil holds the camera figuratively in the palm of his hand as he talks about what it is like to stare down death and what it was to live a life with a mix of traditional Aboriginal ways and modern Hollywood excess, and everything in between.
“When I embarked upon this film, I didn’t know where it would take us,” My Name is Gulpilil director Molly Reynolds said.
Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start with Welcome to Country with John McGuire and a Q&A with Molly Reynolds hosted by Kylie Bracknell after the screening.
